I couldnt agree more with what you are saying.

I'v noticed recently that labels can sometimes be little more than a marketing tool for music. This lead me to thinking about my aims and aspirations, what is it exactly that I want out of it?
Tbh, im struggling to think of many in my end of the scene (electro) that earn enough to be full time musicians. So, bearing this in mind i'v decided to put more out for free.

You are right, it is an incredibly liberating thing, to be able to work without the burden of expectation. As musicians, we all crave an audience, but you don't have to work though a label to reach one, i'm becoming increasingly convinced of this. Sites such as soundcloud provide a convenient conduit for your music.

At the end of the day, should a track go stellar, the same opportunities are still there. And ultimately, nowadays, if you are chasing the dollar, it is there in performances. The way it should be.
